(Seattle, WA) The Seahawks are still licking their wounds from a loss to the 49ers, a game they should have figured out a way to win but 4 turnovers leaving short fields including one in the endzone for a 49er touchdown, dropped balls and poor decision making you wonder how they even had a shot at a win in the final minutes.
Ball Security
Head Coach Mike Macdonald made it clear in his press conference on Monday that there is plenty that has to get cleaned up. “We got the capacity to be a really good football team, but right now we’re not doing the things to become a great team,” Macdonald said.
Cooper Kupp was quoted by the Seahawks media staff as saying it’s not often you welome these Thursday games but the sooner we can get back on the field might be best. “I think there’s that uneasy feeling in the facility right now coming off a loss that we think we should have won and just didn’t do well, especially offensively,” Kupp said. “There’s a frustration there, but also chomping at the opportunity to go out there and play another football game here in a few days. There’s excitement there. Looking forward to getting after things.”
Despite the issues the Seahawks are 3-2, in 2nd place, 2 games behind San Francisco and have lost their 2 games by a total of 5 points. In those two losses there was a combined 7 turnovers. Compare that to just 2 turnovers in their three wins so the first thing to fix is ball security.
Ankle Injuries sideline one while two others good to go

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Leonard Williams and Drake Thomas all suffered ankle injuries. Only Thomas weill miss the Denver game as reported by Head Coach Mike Macdonald. The Coach was unsure of a timeline for Thomas’ return but felt that since he returned to the game on sunday after the injury he is hopeful it’s a short absence.
The good news was Smith-Njigba, who was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, does not have a game status on the final injury report, meaning he is good to go. The same is true for defensive tackle Leonard Williams, who is playing through an ankle injury sustained in Seattle’s Week 4 win over the Chargers.
Meantime, the Seahawks will add Tyrice Knight to the linebacker depth chart. He has started in 14 games through his 3-year career.
The Hawks will also be without Chazz Suart another LB and the running back’s will still be without Zach Charbonnet who continues to recover from an ACL injury from last season. Macdonald says he is comong along with great progress and after tonight’s game they will have time to get more updates on his progress and when he may be ready to re-join the team.
Thursday Night Game
Tonight’s Thursday night game is huge for both the visiting Seattle Seahawks and the home team Denver Broncos. The Hawks want to erase that loss from Sunday as quickly as possible and the Broncos are trying to stay in touch with undefeated Kansas City. Both teams are in similar situaions with offenses that are not firing and defenses that are keeping them in games.
The difference tonight couold simply be which offense takes a step forward and which one doesn’t. Game time is 5:15 and will be streamed on Amazon Prime.
