It’s officially playoff time for high school football in the state of Washington. In week 10 it is the rounds of 32 and 24. In week 10 it’s the round of 32 for classifications 4A, 3A, and 2A. It is a round of 24 for the 1A and the 2B’s are in a traditional district format. The 1B’s have a 16-team state tournament and they also are using a traditional district format. We have not been able to find those matchups so we do not have the 1B district tournament entries. This post is simply the schedules of all classifications for Week 10 that are in the “round-of” playoff format and the 2B Crossovers. The following link will give you the entire schedule for Week 10, including teams that are playing their last games of the season. To see that schedule click on this link.
The WIAA’s seeding committee’s will meet on Sunday to determine all 6 of the State Tournament brackets and will release them by Sunday, November 8 usually by early afternoon.

Coverage of games on West 42 Sports
(1) Puyallup 57, (32) Lewis and Clark 16
The No. 1-ranked team in the state, the Puyallup Vikings, had little trouble dispatching the 32-seed Lewis and Clark, 57 to 16. The Vikings will head to the seeding committee on Sunday. It would be expected that the Vikings end up as the number one seed in the state tournament. Again a reminder: the seeding committees are separate from the seeding committees of the rounds of 32. They reevaluate everything before coming to their final decision.
For a full recap of this game check out the West 42 Sports Crew’s post-game show below.
The Sumner Holiday Inn Express MVP went to Puyallup’s Luke Parker, 7 catches, 191 yards, and 4 touchdowns, made Parker the easy MVP choice.

(16) Olympia 48, (17) Camas 41
The Olympia Bears came out on top in this back-and-forth affair with the Camas Papermakers. Olympia’s ground game wore down the Papermakers and the Bears advance to the state tournament. Camas had their season come to an end in the round of 32.
This was seeds 16 versus 17, which means it’s supposed to be probably the closest game of all 16 games in the round of 32, and they did not disappoint. The Bears get to the state tournament for the first time since 2011 under new head coach Cary Nagle, quite an accomplishment in year one.

The Sumner/Chehalis Holiday Inn Express MVP went to Olympia’s David Ukwu, who led the Bears offensively, rushing for well more than 200 yards, and contributed on the defensive side as well to earn the MVP award

Game Highlights
(5) Federal Way 54, (28) West Seattle 0
The Federal Way Eagles advanced to the state tournament, cruising over West Seattle with a big shutout win. The Eagles picked up big momentum as the season went along and continued that into the Round of 32 as they await their final seeding into the 4-A State Tournament.
Federal Way is looking to match their deepest state tournament run. You have to go all the way back to 1976, when they got to the state championship game and ended up second. They’re still looking to win their first state football championship. Could this be the year? The Eagles look pretty good heading into the opening round next week.

The Sumner Holiday Inn Express MVP went to Ray Rondon for his efforts on both sides of the ball in this big Federal Way win.

Game Highlights
(6) WF West 75, (27) Bremerton 20
The WF West Bearcats showed that they could put up plenty of points as they prepared to head into the state tournament. The Bearcats, looking to get to their first state championship game in school history.
The Bearcats, looking to bounce back after a tough loss last week to Tumwater, wanted to show that they could put up points and boy did they. The WF West offense was potent, hitting on all cylinders on the ground and through the air, but the defense was especially stingy: four interceptions on the night, three by Reese Marquez (and you’ll read more about him down below), including a couple that he took to the house, putting this game out of reach in the first half.
For a full recap of this game check out the West 42 Sports Crew’s post-game show below.
The Chehalis Holiday Inn Express MVP went to Reece Marquez. With all the offense that the Bearcats put up, it was the defense of Reece Marquez that stuck out. Three interceptions, along with two pick-sixes, was more than enough to earn the MVP of the game.

Reese Marquez with one of his two pick-sixes in the first half.
(15) Emerald Ridge 56, (18) Eastlake 28
When the 15 seed takes on the 18 seed, it’s expected that this is going to be a close game. It was close through the first half until Emerald Ridge pulled away in the second half and advanced to the state tournament, knocking Eastlake out.
The Jaguar offense was all ground and pound: only 5 attempted passes and more than 50 rushing attempts for the Jaguars. Trey Robinson had 3 touchdowns, including a pair of 50-plus runs early in the game but they needed them as Eastlake matched the Jaguars in the first half, going to the break tied at 28-28.
The Jaguar defense made some changes and Eastlake could not adjust as Emerald Ridge came up with plenty of pressure on the quarterback. They turned the game around in Emerald Ridge’s favor as they would match the 28 points they scored in the first half with another 28 but then pull off the shutout over the Wolves in the second half for the 56-28 win.

The Sumner Holiday Inn Express MVP went to the offensive line: The West 42 Sports crew credited the big guys up front for the 500 yards of rushing in the ballgame with a dominating ground attack. Well deserving of the MVP: the Emerald Ridge offensive line.

Tre Robinson breaks away for his second 50-plus touchdown run in the first quarter
Napavine 28, Toledo 0
The Napavine Tigers ended in a three-way tie in the Central 2B West division. A coin flip determined who they would face in the crossover and they ended up in Toledo against the River Hawks. The Tigers have had an up-and-down season. Head coach Josh Fay is looking for some consistency. He got it on this night, the biggest night of the year so far. The Tigers controlled the game from start to finish for a nice tidy 28-to-nothing win as they head to the state tournament.
Napavine jumped out to a big 21-0 first-half lead, led by quarterback Beckett Landram, who ran in the first touchdown, threw the second one for six, and then ran in the third touchdown just before half for the big lead at the break.

The Chehalis Holiday Inn Express MVP went to Beckett Landrum, who was responsible for all four of Napa Vine’s touchdowns in this game but was also a big factor on defense, playing both sides of the ball, earns the Chehalis Holiday Inn Express MVP award.
