Kraken 2, Calgary 1
(Seattle, WA) The Seattle Kraken saved their best moment for last Wednesday night, as Matty Beniers delivered the overtime winner to lift Seattle to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Calgary Flames.
The win was memorable not only because of the dramatic finish, but also because it marked the first time the Kraken skated onto the ice wearing their new Hometown Remix jerseys, giving Climate Pledge Arena an extra jolt of energy. The special uniforms paid tribute to Seattle hockey history and provided the backdrop for another signature Kraken moment.
In a game that had all the makings of a defensive battle, the Kraken found a way to get the job done, closing out their four-game season series against Calgary with a 3-1-0 record. It was another example of Seattle finding ways to win the close ones, with timely scoring, strong goaltending, and a little overtime magic.
Beniers played the role of hero, scoring his third career overtime goal, matching the most in franchise history. The goal also marked his ninth career game-winner, tying him for the fourth-most in Kraken history. When the game was on the line, Beniers once again delivered for Seattle, sending the crowd home happy in the debut of the Hometown Remix sweaters.
While Beniers provided the finishing touch, Joey Daccord was every bit as important to the victory. Daccord turned aside 25 of 26 shots, posting a .962 save percentage and giving the Kraken the steady presence they needed throughout the night. His performance kept Seattle within striking distance and allowed the team to capitalize when its opportunity arrived.

The young talent continues to make its presence felt, as “The Little Catt” Berkly Catton extended his point streak to seven games, the longest streak by a player age 20 or younger in Kraken history. Catton’s remarkable run has produced eight points (3 goals, 5 assists), making it the longest point streak of his young NHL career. The rookie continues to show confidence, creativity, and an ability to make an impact night after night.
Seattle also received contributions from several players who have been heating up offensively. Mackie Samoskevich picked up an assist, extending his point streak to three games with five points (1 goal, 4 assists) during that stretch. He has now recorded six points (3 goals, 3 assists) over his last five games.
Kaapo Kakko added an assist of his own and continues to provide a steady offensive presence, collecting six assists over his last seven games. Defenseman Brandon Montour also chipped in with an assist, extending his recent hot streak to six points (3 goals, 3 assists) over his last six contests.
For Seattle, Wednesday’s victory was about more than two points in the standings. It was another demonstration of a team building momentum through contributions from throughout the lineup. Daccord provided the foundation, the young players continued to grow, and Beniers delivered the knockout punch when it mattered most.
The Kraken closed out their season series with Calgary on a winning note, taking three of four meetings against the Flames. And with Catton continuing to produce, Montour heating up, Kakko distributing the puck effectively, and Beniers finding his overtime touch, Seattle has plenty of reasons to believe there is more to come.
The Deep got another overtime thrill, the Hometown Remix jerseys made a memorable first impression, and Matty Beniers made sure the night ended with a Kraken celebration.
