(Seattle, WA) the Seattle Seahawks announced today that quarterback Sam Darnold will miss this week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters that Darnold suffered a quad injury in Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bears. Macdonald said he will not be placed on IR and will be listed as week-to-week.
The Seahawks are coming off a tough defeat on Monday night when the Chicago Bears came to town and dominated the Hawks on their home turf from start to finish. Seattle’s hoping to get back in the win column on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Seattle has already beaten the Cardinals in week 2 in Arizona, 31-7.
Backup QB Drew Lock is expected to get the start. In fact Locke, who came in for Darnold (who got injured in the first series of the first game against New England and then played that entire game against Arizona), has himself been dealing with an elbow injury for the last two weeks. Macdonald is confident that he will be ready to go on Sunday. Jalen Milroe will be the backup.

“We have full confidence in those guys and will have a plan in place,” Macdonald said.
Lock played the entire game against the Cardinals the first time. He went 19 of 26 for 235 yards and three touchdowns. During the time he replaced Darnold, Lock had zero turnovers.
The Seahawks will enter the game with an even 4-4 record and look to start a string of wins as the schedule on paper appears to be favorable for the Seahawks to put multiple wins together. Seattle is currently tied with the LA Rams at 4-4 in the NFC West. Both teams trail the San Francisco 49ers by two games, who sit atop the division with a 6-1 record. The Cardinals, coming off a big upset win at Dallas, will come in motivated against the Seahawks on Sunday. They’re in the basement at 2-6.
The game is the third home game for the Seahawks in a row. Kickoff time is slated for 1:25 pm on Sunday.
