North Kitsap 3, Sequim 2 (23-25, 25-12, 15-25, 25-19, 15-13)

(Sequim, WA) The North Kitsap pulled off a huge win on the road at Sequim in Olympic league action on Thursday night. Sequim came in with a 9-2 league mark sitting in 2nd place behind undefeated Bainbridge. Their opponent North Kitsap was 6-4 in 4th place. However, Sequim had already defeated the Vikings on their home court back on September 22nd with a 3-1 victory.

In this match the Wolves jumped out to an early lead with a tight 25-23 set one win. The senior dominated North kitsap squad was disappointed they couldn’t find a way to get that 1sxt set win came back with a ferocious 2nd set, letting the Wolves know this was not going to be an easy match. Front line work was impeccable led by Michelle Graebner and Silvia Okunami.

Sequim came right back in the 3rd set to regain the advantage winning 25-19. The Wolves were led by Rose Gibson whose thindering kill shots kept the Vikings defense on their heels while the all around play of Jordan Julmust kept the Wolves on track.

Facing a must win 4th set the Vikings pushed their lead to 24-19 then closed it out with a nice bump from Gracie Sullivan over to Saylor Johnston which set up Carly Anderson who then pummeled a hard spike to clinch the 4th set sending it to a deciding 5th set.

In that 5th set the Vikings pulled away for a 14-12 lead but Sequim dug in and got the next point to make 14-13. Serving for the Wolves was Julmust who sent it deep and after a quick back and forth at the net North Kitsap’s Carly Anderson flipped a shot over and the Wolves could not rally to the soft return in time to get a good set and it rolled into the net and dropped for the game winning point.
