The Cougars lost two former head coaches this past summer and will honor them on their helmets during games. Jim Walden and Bill Doba both passed away early this summer—Walden at 88, and Doba at 85. New head coach Kirby Moore announced the news in an interview on Tuesday (9/1/26) and said that the players will honor the coaches throughout all of the fall season. Moore also discussed how he was familiar with Doba and even met him when he was younger. A big honor for the new head coach of WSU to remember those who came before him and left such an impact on the school and program.
