(Seattle, WA) the Seattle Seahawks have made a big move today as they have traded with the Indianapolis Colts for offensive line support. According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Seahawks will send a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick to the Indianapolis Colts for All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson.

The 30-year-old Nelson has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons since the Colts drafted him back in 2018. Nelson is expected to take over the left guard position from Gray Zabel. Zabel will then shift over to the right guard position. Anthony Bradford, who just returned from injured reserve, has been the right guard since 2023. He’ll be the backup. Nelson was under contract with the Colts but in his last deal, with a $16 million base salary, he could not come to an extension before the season.
With the Colts’ current situation it looks like they are ready to unload players and salary at this time. The trade may have been pushed along faster than expected after Seahawks starting left tackle Charles Cross suffered an ankle injury in the Sunday night game against the Chiefs. He is expected to miss time with his replacement being Josh Jones. Adding depth to the offensive line was a top priority in making this deal.
