Tumwater 3, Aberdeen 0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-17)
(Tumwater, WA) Aberdeen entered the game undefeated, 9-0 and 4-0 in league, tied with Tumwater for the number one spot. Aberdeen was also the #2-ranked team in the RPI and off to one of the best starts in the school’s history. Tumwater came into the game coming off five straight wins after starting the season 0-6 and had caught fire late in the season at the perfect time. This game was a battle of the two top teams in their league battling for that number one spot.
Sets 1-3
Tumwater got off to a dominant start in every set, which carried them through the rest of their time on the court. The front court offense of the T-Birds with Sydney Wilson, Kay Kay Malroy, and Corinne Sadlemyer was on point all night as they collected kills throughout the game. The backline defense as well didn’t allow Aberdeen to catch a rhythm, with Lauren Montoya-Kilmer, Audrey Overbay, and Abbey Kummer leading the charge and making great saves. Noami Ash and Ashley Hill would also come in and have great games as they helped Tumwater dominate their way through each set.
Aberdeen had their moments throughout each game and would go on small runs. Jordyn Mills, Emelia Kohn, and Morgan McCombs were the driving forces of the offense and Sophie Knutson and Mia Hallak were the stars for Aberdeen’s defense. Every set Aberdeen got better and brought the score closer the momentum on Tumwater’s side was too much as everything seemed to go their way. Tumwater would dominate every set and walk away with their sixth straight win and advance to 5-0 in league play. Aberdeen falls to 9-1 and 4-1 in league. The T-Birds will now be the top team in the 2A Evco after this win.
Chehalis Holiday Inn Express MVP of the Game
The Chehalis Holiday Inn Express MVP of the game went to Corinne Sadlemyer. There were so many names that contributed to Tumwater’s win but she had many big kills though out the game and made the most of every opportunity that came her way. She is a large part of the dangerous Tumwater offense and she was one of the best offensive players on the court at all times.
