Onalaska 3, Adna 2

(Adna, WA) Central 2B girls soccer began this week and the early feeling out process also began. For the Onalaska Loggers, an impressive non-league run had them as viewed as one of the top contenders in a wide open league in 2026. Meanwhile, the Adna Pirates worked through a tough non-league schedule, battling injuries along the way to have some momentum coming into league play. Both got opposite results in the league openers with Onalaska coming in 1-0 in C2BL play while Adna would try to bounce back after dropping their league opener.

1st Half

In the first 10 minutes of the match, the Adna Pirates were controlling the possession and pushing back Onalaska’s backline. The Logger defense, led by senior Kiley Talley, was able to deny Adna’s early looks and keep them on the perimeter of the 18-yard-box for the most part. Madi Otten, Charlotte Deguise, and Haley Roundtree continued to attack but couldn’t break through. A penalty kick would come early for Onalaska as Leighton Underhill took the shot but a terrific save by Lillian Montat denied the goal. Onalaska keeper, Leah Hamilton, also had a high level save early to keep this one scoreless.

After the initial 10 minutes, Onalaska started to take control. The deep bench of the Loggers began to pay off as they made huge line changes to keep fresh legs on the field constantly. They also got a big push from young 8th graders Piper Iverson and Kendall Iverson as well as freshman Peyton Iverson. It would be a senior to breakthrough however as just minutes after Emilee Rodriguez was off target on a shot, she was right on the money to give Onalaska a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute.

The Loggers added on in the 30th minute as Kendall Iverson was in the perfect spot for a follow-up shot to make it 2-0. Adna started to get going again after that as Alyson Terry really took her game to another level along with Zoey Goodman taking charge defensively. However, Onalaska’s defense was led by Talley as well as Kennedy Kinsman and did not allow too many more opportunities as the Loggers took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

2nd Half

The depth of Onalaska continued to be the difference maker in this one in the second half. Gracin Vickers started to fire off some shots while Reese Marshall kept the ball in the Loggers attacking half. They would add on in the 55th minute as Leighton Underhill fired a perfect shot to extend the lead to 3-0.

Adna seemed frustrated and couldn’t find a way to breakdown the Onalaska defense. That led to some mistakes but Adna would get going again. A shot by Gracie Stone in the 61st minute spun into the back of the net to bring the energy back up for the Pirates. Things got very interesting on a perfect free kick by Alyson Terry to make it 3-2 in the 78th minute. Adna was pushing very aggressively to find the equalizer, but the Logger defense was able to hang on. The 3-0 lead would not slip through Onalaska’s fingers as the Loggers hung on to defeat Adna, 3-2.

Chehalis Holiday Inn Express MVP

Our Chehalis Holiday Inn Express MVP of the match went to Kendall Iverson for Onalaska as the 8th grader scored the second Logger goal as well as leading the offensive attacks all match long.
