(Seattle, WA) The Seattle Seahawks decided to pass on signing veteran running back Joe Mixon after he underwent his physical, according to a post on X from EPN’s Adam Schefter. Mixon, a 2-time Pro Bowler began his career with Cincinnati and spent 7-years with the Bengals. He signed with Houston in 2024 and rushed for over 1,000 yards but missed all of last season with a foot injury and was released by the Texans in March.

Seattle is looking for depth in the running back room while they await the return of Zach Charbonnet who continues to recover from a serious knee injury and their 1st round draft choice, Jadarian Price is on the IR for 4 weeks after aggravating a chest/shoulder injury.

That has left Emanuel Wilson and George Holani to hold down the fort for the most part. Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald was optimistic that Mixon would be a good addition after he worked out on Monday for Seattle. And early word was they planned to sign Mixon after his physical. At this time there are no details on what happened from the time Mixon worked out and the decision not to sign him but we can only assume at this time there was an issue in the physical results.

It’s also important to note that no information regarding Mixon has been reported on the Seahawks web site, so this is all “source” based reporting at this time. When the Seahawks post an official statement we will update this story.

Seahawks claim Commanders RB

ESPN’s Brady Henderson reported the impending Mixon signing yesterday as well and also report the Hawks have claimed undrafted free agent Robert Henry Jr off the Commanders practice squad.

Henry made the Commander’s practice squad after signing as a free agent from the University of Texas San Antonio. Henry rushed for more than 7,000 yards in high school in Mississippi and scored 99 touchdowns before heading to play at Jones Community College in Mississippi.

He then transferred to UTSA and played 3 seasons for the Roadrunners. Henry racked up 2,339 yards over the 3 seasons and 35 games including 1,045 in 2025 with 9 TD’s. He averaged 6.9 yards per carry.

The Seahawks have not released any official statement as of yet on their website of claiming Henry and again we will update this story when those details become available.
