(Adna,WA) The Bellevue Christian Vikings took the long drive to Adna to take on the Pirates. The Vikings came in with a 1-1 record defeating Mossyrock and dropping to Friday Harbor. B-C plays in the 1A Nisqually lead.
Adna is looking to return to a load of past history and are off and running with a solid 2-1 start all in non-conference play. The Pirates knocked off Toledo who played for the State Title last season and 1A Seton Catholic. Their only loss was 44-32 to #1 RPI ranked Onalaska.
Adna strikes all ways quickly
This one got away from the Bellevue Christian Vikings in a hurry as Adna’s Grayson Humphrey scored three different ways to start the game scoring with a run, pass reception and punt return making it 21-0 before the Vikings could take a breath.
After a nice drive including a very productive night from Adna QB Trevin Salme the Pirates were on the 1-yard line when Humphrey struck first. On the Pirate following possession it was a Salme to Humphrey 5-yard swing pass for 6. Humphrey then popped a huge punht return from his own 37, going straight up the middle then cutting to his left to find space and took it to the house and Adna pushed their 1st half lead to 21-0.
The Pirates would add another score before the break this was a Salme to Landen Cline connection, the PAT was good and at halftime the Pirates were in control 28-0.
2nd Half Pirates don’t let up
The Vikings defense did have a huge stop just seconds before halftime stuffing the Pirate offense on their own 2 with a big 4th and 1 stop. But they could not string together enough stops to slow down the Pirates.
Nailon Ramirez was next for Adna after taking another swing pass from Salme he scooted 28 yards to the 1 yard line. Ramirez was then rewarded with the carry blasting in from the 1 for the score.
Salme began to spread the wealth with another TD pass this time to Kannen Kephart on a 14 yard catch and run to make it 40-0.
It was the defenses turn and when Cline picked off a Vikings pass and returned it to the 1 yard line just coming up short of the pick 6. Cline was also rewarded with the 1-yard carry in for 6 and it was 46-0.
The Adna JV’s got their chance to get in the game in the 4th quarter and Finn McCauley put a stamp on the Adna win with a nice run for 6. The PAT was good and the final score was 52-0.
Chehalis Holiday Inn Express MVP
The Chehalis Holiday Inn Express MVP of the game went Grayson Humphrey. Humphrey’s 3 touchdowns that began the game were too much to overlook as the crew discussed the several candidates for tonight’s award.
What’s Next?
The Pirates are now 3-1 on the season and host Pe Ell-Willapa Valley next Friday in their league opener with a 7pm kick-off time.
Bellevue Christian is on the road again in a Nisqually league match-up against Cascade Christian. CC plays their home games at Sumner’s Sunset Chev Stadium on Saturday’s. Kick-off next Saturday is at 7pm.
