The heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall still has not fought since his controversial fight against Cyril Gane at UFC 321 last October. The fight was ruled a no contest due to an eye poke that left Aspinall unable to see and required surgery. Aspinall was frustrated since he had already wasted almost a year of his career waiting for a Jon Jones fight that never came to fruition. Then he moved on and got a major injury in his eye in the first round of his championship bout. It has been another year where he has been able to fight, and now he still requires additional testing before he returns to the octagon.
