Toledo 40, Granite Falls 21

(Toledo, WA) The Toledo Riverhawks got to the big game last year losing the Staten Championship to Tri-Cities Prep 47-34. They wanted to be challenged in their non-league games and began with a road trip to always tough Adna wheren they took a loss.

This week and next week they’ve lined up 1A opponents in Granite Falls and then Tenino next week. The Riverhawks graduated some key players and want to be locked in when the Central 2B begins play.

Granite Falls traveled south to take on the Riverhawks. The Tigers went 8-2 and lost to La Center in the district play-in game. The Tigers are looking to get back to post season and wanted to take on teams that would challenge them and get them ready.

Toledo jumped out to a 14-0 lead before Granite Falls could hit the scoreboard. The Riverhawks used a big running attack from Nico and Joaquin Acosta where they combined for more than 500 yards of offense.

At halftime Toledo led 28-7 before the Tigers hit a big play down the field field from QB Jax Goldsmith to Bo Everson inside the 5 and Goldsmith would run it in to make it 28-14 at the break.

In the 2nd half the Toledo defense tightened up while then Riverhawk offense kept the pressure on with the running game pushing their lead to 40-14. Granite Falls would get another score in the 4th quarter but could not really get within striking distance and took their 2nd loss of the year.
