Timberline Blazers 26, Bonney Lake Panthers 14
(Lacey, WA) In a 3A/4A non-league matchup, both teams played through the last quarter as defense prevailed throughout the day. Timberline came into the game 1-0 after a dominant win over Stadium 34-7 and looked to continue their success. Bonney Lake, meanwhile, came in 0-1 after a loss to White River to open their season. Both teams battled till the end and made for a great day of football at South Sound Stadium.
1st Half
Timberline got off to a hot start with King Pridgen having multiple nice runs mixed with a big pass from Cameron Vongdara to Davin Kirkwood. Kirkwood would then find the end zone on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Vongdara for the first score of the game. Bonney Lake on their first drive would be forced to punt, but the special teams unit downed the ball at the four-yard line where Timberline would take over. Vongdara would be sacked in the end zone a few plays later for a safety and put Bonney Lake on the board.
Both teams from there would exchange punts. With the ball back in the hands of the Blazers, they would hand the ball off six straight times to King Pridgen who cashed in with a two yard touchdown run. Bonney Lake would put together a long drive after aided by Timberline’s defensive penalties four sacks from the Blazers from Wonderful Glenn, Kataferu Galoia, Luckey Moore, and Christian Jerom Duenas. The long drive would end unfortunately with a turnover on downs for the Panthers. In the first play Timberline’s next drive, Vongdara would fumble the ball on the run and Bonney Lake recovered with great field position. With limited time left in the half, QB Aiden Samson found Isaac Russell for the eight-yard touchdown to make it 13-8 going into halftime.
2nd Half
Bonney Lake would put together another promising drive to start the second half but would be cut short after an interception from Timberline’s Dalton Abbott. Both teams would then trade three-and-outs, giving Timberline the ball back. After a 33-yard run from King Pridgen, the Blazers found themselves inside the five-yard line. Bonney Lake, however, would make an amazing goal-line stand and force the turnover on downs.
After a Bonney Lake punt, Timberline’s King Pridgen would unleash for a 49-yard touchdown run to put the Blazers up two scores. Once again, both Blazers and Panthers swapped possessions, but King Spearman would come up with the biggest defensive play of the game with a pick-six for Timberline to put them up big. Down three scores, the Panthers needed a big play and did just that on their next drive with a 46-yard touchdown catch-and-run from Colt Miller, where the ball was tipped multiple times in the air. The wildest play of the game, but not enough for Bonney Lake, as there was not enough time on the clock for a comeback. Timberline would get one more interception from Lome Fatilua and knee the ball down to secure the win, 26-14
Sumner Holiday Inn MVP of the Game
The Sumner Holiday Inn MVP of the game went to King Pridgen as he tallied 179 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns. He was an absolute workhorse on offense and had the numbers to back it up. He is a dangerous runner that any team moving forward needs to be aware of moving forward.

Bonney Lake will face Capital High School on the road on Friday, September 18th with a 7:00 pm kickoff. Timberline is set to play Prairie High School on Friday, September 18th with a 7:00 pm kickoff. These are both teams’ last non-league games before conference play begins.
